Quata Budukusu breaks it down all

As a young talent with much vibrancy, rapper and hiplife artiste was the choice of the new hiplife revolution when he emerged on the scene. What set him apart was his tongue twisting style which undoubtedly won hims many admirations.

With his debut Wonie album under his belt, the young Quata defied the odds to gain national recogntion for his art and it is not surprising that he is still regarded as one of the best things to have happened the Hiplife fraternity.

Jacob Kwame Etroo, musically known as Quata Budukusu a.k.a Qtee was born on June 4th 1981 to Mr. Robert Kojo Etroo and Mrs. Comfort Ama Duku Etroo.

He was raised in Cantonment Switch Back road, Accra. His father hails from Agona Swedru and his mother from Abura Aseebu, all in the Central Region of Ghana. Quata has seven (7) sisters and two brothers.

He had his basic education at Airport Police Primary and JSS, Accra, and continued at Aggrey Memorial Senior High School in Cape Coast where he studied Agriculture Science (Animal Husbandry).

But his love for music couldn’t be quenched even after studying Agriculture.

That passion spurred him on to chase after his dreams which included studying audion engineering at … The evidence of what he studied was later manifested when he established the Audio Farm Recording Studios at …. The “feat” made him the youngest recording sound producer at the time.

But it wasn’t the production of sweet sounds that Quata wanted to be known for. He released his debuit album, Wonie, in 2004. That album was the signatuire of Hammer of the Last Two and it will later shoot him to the ladder of fame. He was then under OM studios.

What made his style different was his indepth in Akan proverbs and adages which featured prominently in his raps. If people had praised the rap skills of Okomfo Kwaadee and a host of others in his league, then it was definitely no match for Quata at the time.

That wasn’t just his trademark, his tongue twisting style of raps was a thumps up. His “innovation” no doubt brought much competition in the game.

Quata’s versatility as an artist makes him the ultimate music tool and a pacakage on its own. He adds a distinct touch of originality to every genre. From his Ghanain roots in highlife, rap music, hiplife, Afro pop, he is a gem. When it comes to dancehall, he is creative with the Patois.

These musical traits made him the most featured artiste who did collaborations with KK Fosu, Tinny, Becca, Mzbel, George Jarah, the Maestro Kojo Antwi, etc.

His second album concert was under Dolphins Production, produced by Dan Grahl with quitar and keyboard work from the famous Kwame Yeboah which astounded the market and also made massive impact. The third album (Independence Day) introduced Quata’s singing side with the hit singles Baby ft Paa Dogo, Pretty Face ft VIP, Empress and Living the life under Natures Clue Entertainment.

Quata is currently signed to Bakus Entertainment, after six years break from active music. Over hundred songs recorded for his new release comes in all genres. It is the most versatile masterpiece yet to hit the world.
